Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Temecula, CA for an Aerospace and Defense company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to produce precision components that meet strict quality and safety standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathe machines to fabricate metal and plastic components.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
  • Perform precision measurements using tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain accuracy and efficiency during production.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lathe equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and quality.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience operating lathe machines (manual and/or CNC).
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC programming (e.g., G-code).
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or aerospace/industrial environment.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail.
  • Ability to operate machinery safely in a production environment.

Pay Rate

$27.00 - $33.00 Per Hour based on experience

Schedule:

7:00AM - 3:30PM
